Abstract:In this study, the influence of moisture content on the critical stress intensity factor KI sub C was examined experimentally at room temperature. The materials used for the experiment were Japanese cypress, Alaska cedar, agathis, red lauan and tamo.
The critical stress intensity factor was maximum between 4% and 7% moisture contents. And above 7% moisture content, the critical stress intensity factor decreased with increasing moisture content.
